Intuitive Eating and Alcohol 🍷🍻 Thoughts and Tips
Alcohol is a normal part of most people’s lives and there’s pros and cons to drinking alcohol
Even with the cons, it’s unreasonable to set an expectation for yourself that you can never enjoy an alcoholic drink simply because you’re afraid it may make you gain weight
Get curious and ask yourself why you are drinking the alcohol 🤔
- Are you drinking on occasion at social events?
- Do you go out every weekend to get drunk?
- Are you drinking every night with dinner because you like the taste of a glass of wine?
- Are you using alcohol as a stress reliever or to cope with other things going on in your life?
Getting down to the why can help you make the best decision for yourself when it comes to alcohol and intuitive eating
Be mindful of how alcohol makes you feel
For example, I noticed that when I drink more than 2 glasses of wine, my sleep is worse and I have digestion issues the next day 🥴While I don’t make it a rule to stop at my “two drink limit”, I’m at least aware and can choose to stop (or add in some water) after two glasses if I don’t want to feel as bad the next dayWhen it comes to intuitive eating and alcohol, being mindful of your actions and how they make you feel may make you realize that alcohol really isn’t for you
But if alcohol is for you, let it be a fun part of your life! And remember:
- You don’t have to restrict yourself before or after you drink
- A couple drinks will not ruin the goals you have set for yourself
- You don’t have to choose the lowest calorie drink every time
