Yummy French Toast

French toast >>>> pancakes... Who agrees?

Okay so the recipe I'm sharing below is nothing fancy but that's what I love about sharing recipes, keeping them simple so just about anyone can make them. But before I share the recipe, I do have to tell you about this mouth-watering french toast I ate once at a place called Olde World Restaurant down in North Port, Florida. I'm telling you this was the best french toast I have ever had so I cannot resist sharing this place with you! Here's a little background info, from the age of 12-18 my family and my cousin's family took an annual week-long trip down to Florida for spring break. We are from Michigan so it was the best time going down to the Sunshine State and getting to do all of the fun activities with one of my best friends.During our trip, it was a tradition that we all went to Sunday Mass and afterwards we would head to the restaurant mentioned above. Every time I got their amazing french toast that was made with what had to be the world's biggest piece of Texas toast, sprinkled with powdered sugar, and drizzled with maple syrup πŸ˜‹Like I said I have never had a better piece of french toast so if you're ever in Florida near this restaurant I highly recommend you go check them out! I was not able to find a website for them but I did link their Facebook page above. So truth be told, I think I love french toast so much because every time I eat it, it reminds me of taking trips to FL with my family and the fun traditions we had. Do any of you have foods you eat that can take you back to a certain place or time? Share below, I'd love to hear! One day I hope to be able to make french toast as great as that restaurant does, but for now check out the recipe below that is simple to make and delicious too!Prep time: 5-10 minutes Cook time: 10 minutes Servings: 2 slices

Ingredients:

  • 2 pieces of Texas toast bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sliced strawberries
  • 1/4 cup fresh blueberries
  • Maple syrup (I measure with the heart 😌)

Directions:

  1. Heat non-stick pan on stovetop at medium heat for approximately 5 minutes. Optional: spray bottom of pan with cooking spray
  2. Crack eggs in a bowl and whisk together with a fork until completely mixed
  3. Dip 1 piece of toast in the mixed egg, flipping from side-to-side until it is covered in egg. Before placing in pan, sprinkle desired amount of cinnamon on each side of the bread
  4. Place in pan and cook each side for about 2-3 minutes, or until they are crisp and golden brown in color. Repeat for each piece of Texas toast
  5. Place french toast on plate, sprinkle strawberries and blueberries across plate and drizzle desired amount of maple syrup over your french toast. Enjoy!
